Training for diving in open water

Training in confined waters is important for beginner divers, but the skills needed to dive in open water are the same. Training in confined water helps you to learn skills such as setting up equipment, mask clearing, breathing underwater, set-up, and breathing. In addition, they also allow you to get a feel for the different types of underwater environments and how to navigate in them. Confined water sessions help you get the confidence you need to dive safely in the open ocean, as well as to become an excellent underwater photographer.

Preparation for diving in open water

Open water courses may take between a few hours and a few days. The duration of an open water course depends on the type of course, the dive centre you choose, and how much time you have available. While most courses take three to seven working days, some can be completed online in as little as one day. Additionally, you will learn about the equipment that is required to safely dive in open waters.

Use of wetsuits

Divers can use wetsuits for open water diving to keep their bodies warm. Because they are made from a thin layer, the wetsuit prevents heat buildup. The wetsuit can keep the wearer warm, even when the water around them is colder than their skin. If properly cared for, a wetsuit should last several years.

Divers in open water have many benefits

There are many benefits to diving in the open sea, but not many people realize the physical and mental benefits. One is that the sun can increase levels of Vitamin D, and endorphins in our bodies, which are two vital hormones that make us happier and healthier. We also experience reduced blood pressure thanks to increased endorphin levels. This "feel good feeling" is also beneficial for our mood. There are many other physical benefits of diving in the open ocean, so it's worthwhile to check out these positive aspects of diving.
