PADI's Enriched Air Diver Course or SSI’s Enriched Air Nitrox Course are options that you might consider if your goal is to become a scuba diver. You may wonder how to start. This article will help you understand the differences and how to get started. Additionally, this article will discuss online nitrox certification.
PADI's Enriched Air Diver course
PADI Enriched Air Diver is a course that teaches you how to safely plan for and prepare for enriched dives. It is primarily computer-based, and the classroom portion typically takes an evening. This course can be used in conjunction with other PADI courses such as Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver. You can do your own nitrox dives, or they are included in this course.

This course uses interactive multimedia presentations, audio, graphics and audio to make it easy to follow and understand. There are short quizzes to test your progress. The course includes a Quick Review as well as a practical application, two enriched water training dives, and predive simulations. PADI recommends that you complete the online portion of the course no later than one year before you plan on using nitrox.
SSI's Enriched Air Nitrox course
The EnrichedAir Nitrox course offered by SSI makes a great choice if divers want to increase their bottom times or reduce their surface intervals. This course covers a variety of subjects from gas theory to proper mixing of enriched air and how to mark your tank. This course will teach you how to calculate the best enriched air mixture for your particular depth, and how to plan your dives to maximize the use of the enriched air.
After completing the Open Water Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver courses, SSI's EnrichedAir Nitrox is an ongoing course that will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely dive with enriched water. You can also use it to plan future dives and reduce decompression sickness. After you pass the exams and complete the course, the enriched-air cylinder can be used safely.
Online courses for nitrox certification
There are two ways to get your enriched air certification: in a classroom or online. If you are taking the classroom course, you will need a dive computer to perform the skills. Your enriched air classroom certification will take approximately one to two hours. It is possible to combine the course with an Advanced Open Water, PADI Open Water or PADI Open Water course. If you have limited time, you can also sign up for private classes or take advantage of online learning resources. You can also take the course online, and do the nitrox dives offline.

A manual, a cylinder and a dive computer are required for the course. Online learning options allow you to use an app that simulates a enriched aircylinder to test your skills. The EANx36 cylinder works with both an online eLearning course and a classroom. Participants must be at the least 12 years old.
