Diver Certification Levels

divers supplies

An introductory course will help you get started in diving if your interest is not sparked by a specific topic. Also known as a buceo (or baptism in water), this course can be a great option for beginners or those who don't have much time. The course can be completed at 12 metres. However, you will need to have a qualified instructor. You can take additional classes to upgrade to Advanced open water or Rescue certification.

PADI Scuba Diver

There are many PADI Scuba Diver levels. The introductory course can be taken by those just starting out and they can then move up to the next level after they have reached certain competency levels. PADI Scuba Diver is made up 14 modules. Each module can be broken into three sections. Although the course is usually three days long, you can upgrade it in as little as one and a half days. This is the most sought-after course and allows you to dive to 18m.

Open water diving for advanced divers

Advanced open water divers are those who have completed an Open Water Diver Course and have obtained an AOW certification. AOW divers can dive to depths greater than 60 feet. They can also learn buoyancy and air consumption. Open water divers with advanced skills can do specialty dives like wreck diving. There are many levels to an AOW certificate. Below are the differences between the levels. To learn more about these different levels, read on!

Rescue diver

There are three Rescue Diver diving certificate levels: recreational, technical and dive leader. International Standards Organisation, (ISO), establishes the standards. These training levels are based upon BS EN 14413-2 and ISO 24801-1, 2004. Instructors who are level-one can instruct recreational divers and assess their knowledge to the level of a diver. They also have the ability to plan and conduct dives. They can also lead divers in open waters and assist with rescue operations.

Cave-1 class

For a cave diver certification program, you will need to have at least 40 hours of instruction and experience. Cave diving skills and standard procedures are covered. Emergency procedures and hazards are also discussed. The cave course consists of two parts. One is academic and the other is water-based. Students are evaluated on their skills. They must also demonstrate their proficiency and skills by passing an exam. The cave diving course requires that the student complete a manual.
