For those interested in pursuing advanced technical diving certifications, there are several options available. TDI offers Intro to Tech courses as well as Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures and Advanced Nitrox, while PADI offers Tec Trimix or Deep Diver courses. Advanced Nitrox diving techniques are taught in the TDI Advanced Nitrox Course for recreational Nitrox divers. The course covers equipment, gas switching, emergency techniques, and more. You can find more information on the TDI site.
TDI Intro to Tech course
The TDI Intro to Tech Course is a standalone training class that can help you increase your recreational skills and deepen your technical knowledge. It can also be used as a gateway to TDI’s more advanced courses, like Advanced Nitrox (Decompression Procedures) and Advanced Nitrox (Decompression Procedures). You can also use it to refresh those who have previously taken technical courses. During the course, technical instructors at TDI can assess your skills.
The TDI Intro to Tech course can be used by divers who haven't dived before with twin cylinders and a wing. It also covers advanced gas management and buoyancy control. Students will also acquire situational awareness and trim skills. The course is taught in open cenotes, or at sea. Advanced gas planning techniques will be taught. This course will improve your open water diving skills as well as introduce you to technical equipment configurations. You will also learn advanced gas planning techniques. Although it is strictly a non-decompression course you will be permitted to use enriched oxygen nitrox mix during the course.

Course on TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures
TDI Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures classes prepare divers for accelerated, staged and controlled decompression. This course teaches advanced gas planning and management skills to ensure safe diving. Students will also learn how manage their equipment and plan ahead for any eventualities. A TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures course includes four dives with a maximum depth of 40 meters (130 feet).
This course can be taken as a standalone course or as part of an Advanced Nitrox or Decompression Procedures certification. Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures are performance-based courses that last for four days. Six dives above 30 meters are required. The course is customized to each student's experience and their individual requirements. This course prepares students to dive in advanced technical conditions, including wrecks in Scapa Flow or the UK.
PADI Tec Trimix course
PADI Tec Trimix90 is the final stage in the PADI Technical Diver circuit. This certification allows you to dive deeper and go places that no one else has. This course is for experienced tec divers who wish to expand their diving range and explore deeper waters. In order to be certified in trimix diving, you must have a valid diver license and have undergone a medical examination. For this certification you will need two 30cf Stage bottles and a Face Mask.
For the PADI Tec Trimix course, the Tec Trimix 65 diver must have logged at least 350 dives, including at least 50 decompression dives with a trimix less than 21 percent oxygen. Technical diving techniques and protocols are also covered in the course. Multiple teaching scenarios are also included in the course. It is considered the most advanced course in technical dive certification. The requirements are much more stringent than the PADI Tec Diver certification.

PADI Tec Deep Diver course
PADI Deep Diver certification is for recreational divers. This certification covers four dives and includes a practice of safety stops as well as descents. You will also learn to use technical diving equipment like a side-mounted cylinder, EANx and EANx. Also, you'll learn how to plan a deep dive as well as manage your gas supply. You can choose to take your lessons online, or offline. The PADI Tec eLearning course allows you to work at your own pace.
This program, unlike previous PADI courses can be completed within two years. First, you'll need to get a Tec 50 diving certification from an authorized organization. The qualification must cover technical deep diving as well as decompression dives up to 50 meters and pure oxygen diving. The Tec 50 diver training may be offered by the PADI Course Director who conducts the Tec Deep Instructor course. Upon completion of the Tec Deep Instructor course, the PADI Course Director will issue you a Tec Deep Diver certification.
